What is Media Studies?

The Integrated Media Studies classes are mandatory, trimester, non-elective courses, grades 9-11 that are integrated into the cultural history curriculum. Collage Paper

Orrin Frazier

Collage philosophy paper

My collage is made up of science related images and pictures from magazines. In the top right and top left corners there are images from space. The image on the right is a nebula, which is a huge cluster of gasses and particles that occupy large areas. These large celestial objects are what form solar systems by the forces of gravity. In the top left are two pictures the one on top is a picture of two very bright stars. Below that is a picture of a spiral galaxy (which is quite beautiful). These three pictures are there to show that I believe that humans should concentrate on space travel and advancements in rocket science. If we could get to other planets we could get the energy from other planets. Although I think it isn’t bad to use fossil fuels and that it wont run out in the near future. I would like to have an alternative to fossil fuels if they did ever run out. I do not believe that wind and solar power are of any use as power sources. There is also a galaxy in the center of the collage to show that this is my main idea and that it is central to my philosophy. The Earth Rising picture is to show how far we have gotten thus far on our journey, which would be the moon. Then the skateboarder and mountain climber are there to show the importance of exercise in whatever amount possible in daily life. I think people should stay as fit as their situation allows them. Especially when you are a teenager the muscles you build last you your whole life and if you don’t build them it will be hard to get them later on in life. Also there are some blueberries, because I think everyone should eat healthy. Even those who can afford it should eat healthy alternatives. Eating lentils and beans is as cheap as any fast food and extremely healthy for you. Next on the collage is a big coin, which stands for money and economics. I believe that we should conserve our money for ourselves and that we shouldn’t waste it on other less fortunate countries. The United States spends over 20 billion dollars a year on helping other countries out with food and supplies. Just cause they are less fortunate doesn’t mean you have to make a charity case out of them. There are also some animals, which have to do with my love and curiosity with animals. Animals can love you unconditionally, which no human can seem to do. Lastly there is the words, “Remotely Controlled,” under some of the other pictures and this represents my idea that technology is the key to unlocking a great future and that that is the best way to achieve greatness.
