What is Media Studies?

The Integrated Media Studies classes are mandatory, trimester, non-elective courses, grades 9-11 that are integrated into the cultural history curriculum. In all the Media Studies courses, students learn to deconstruct and construct media via collaborative and individual projects and activities, production, discussion, and written reflection. This is a double-period class.

Artistic Statement

The main portion of the photo is the easel with the words “insert clever drawing”, symbolizing the idea that I know what the painting will mean, but I don’t know what it will look like. This is not necessarily relating to a literal painting, but more of the big picture ideas, like life. Therefore, I know what I want my outcome in life to be, but I don’t know what it will look like nor how I will “paint it”. This relates to the over-sized pencil, which is being used for the “painting of life” (I guess you call it that now). As one can imagine it is quite difficult to write with this pencil. So it will not be easy to finish this painting. I feel that having a sense of time while finishing the “painting of life” would be a good idea. But the main reason for the pocket watch is that I think pocket watches are cool. My face is darkened in order to show that while going through life I won’t truly know what I will be at the end. Therefore, I won’t know what I’ll look like.

  1. I like the "insert clever photo" it's really funny and I think it represents you well. However, it would've been cool if you went with the first idea you had :D
