Artist Statement:
"Stand in the sun, swim in the sea, drink the wild air."
Simple and complicated, I always have something clouding my mind but yet on the outside I looked composed. For my self portrait I wanted something simple but to also have a strong meaning. I thought that I could put myself into an image as if I where moving with the image. That when I decided to used the smoke clouds. I was going through my personal blog and this was the first photo I had ever posted. It caught my eye. The colors beautifully came together and I knew I had to use this image. Then I took the profile of myself, I liked this photo because the shade of my eyes matched my body and the rest was light. Like the clouds the colors flowed into each other. I flowed within the clouds and they flowed through me.
Trail and Error:
I did not have many issues doing this because I have experience with photoshop. My idea was a spur of the moment and I was draw to the image because the colors coincided with the image of myself that I had already edited. The only thing I needed was to fade my image into the image of the smoke clouds. Then because I put two images of myself I had a line in the center. I faded this line into the clouds so it would flow along with it. This helped me sharpen my skills in photoshop and it was fun trying to take a good photo of myself.
