What is Media Studies?

The Integrated Media Studies classes are mandatory, trimester, non-elective courses, grades 9-11 that are integrated into the cultural history curriculum. In all the Media Studies courses, students learn to deconstruct and construct media via collaborative and individual projects and activities, production, discussion, and written reflection. This is a double-period class.

For this project I really wanted to have a good statement. My statement is letting go of my insecurities but yet still holding onto some of them. Also breaking away as I grow into adulthood. The top half of my outfit is exposed to show me letting go of my insecurities, but the bottom have is fully covered to show the troubles I still hold onto still to this day. My right arm is extended to show that I am reaching out to expand myself into adulthood. The texture of the image is me breaking away from aldonence years into adulthood.

Trail and Error: I had trouble finding the time and location to take this photo. Later on, I had difficulty figuring out what my artistic statement would be for and what would be my inspiration. I didn't want it to be me just posing trying to look "cool". I wanted my self portrait to have a deep meaning. I originally wanted my statement to be something about my culture, but then mid way I changed it into something that I thought would fit this photograph.
