What is Media Studies?

The Integrated Media Studies classes are mandatory, trimester, non-elective courses, grades 9-11 that are integrated into the cultural history curriculum. In all the Media Studies courses, students learn to deconstruct and construct media via collaborative and individual projects and activities, production, discussion, and written reflection. This is a double-period class.

Artist statement

In my picture you can see myself in the space and nearly covered by the earth. I wanted to show you that I sometimes have this special feeling. Sometimes I feel so small because the space and the earth are in comparison to me so huge and there are so many people that I am just overwhelmed and also overstrained with everything. Especially when it is dark and I look into the sky I feel so little that I ask myself what is outside of my view and mind and in the distances of the space. In these moments, it is easy for me to believe that god has a certain plan for every human on the world and everything is going in a special pattern. Sometimes I feel lonely when I think of all this but also somehow protect.

Trail and Error:

At first I had difficulties to decide what I wanted to do. I had different ideas what I can do and decided in the end for this picture. I also had to decide with what I should take my pictures, which an old camera or just my cellphone or the laptop. My next problem was that I have never used Photo Shop before, so I first had to learn how to do this but after figuring that out, nearly everything went very well and this picture was made.
