What is Media Studies?

The Integrated Media Studies classes are mandatory, trimester, non-elective courses, grades 9-11 that are integrated into the cultural history curriculum. In all the Media Studies courses, students learn to deconstruct and construct media via collaborative and individual projects and activities, production, discussion, and written reflection. This is a double-period class.

My collage is about vanity. “We are so vain that we even care for the opinion of those we don’t care for.” This quote really inspired me for my collage. Why do we care about other people’s opinion about ourselves, even if we don’t care for them? It’s puzzling, and it doesn’t make sense. In my collage there’s a sense of self-consciousness, vulnerability, and disguise.

I believe in a peaceful environment; one where people are accepted for who they are, all their faults, ideas, and interests. I believe in living in the moment and "being here now." A philosophy very similar to buddhism. I think ignorance is bliss, although a harmful and sad way to live. Ignorance, I think, makes a person small minded and weak. I do believe in a positive and peaceful state of mind where one accomplishes a meditative state where smaller and larger problems seem clearer. Love is above all in importance. I believe love is more important than war, religion, science, and ration. I do not necessarily believe in god, but I believe there is a greater force in the world that cannot be explained. I believe things happen for a reason, and I believe in fate. I believe what goes around comes around and anything you project into the universe will come back for you.
