My collage represents a perfect world through my philosophy; the steps to achieving my utopian w orld are within it. The first thing I started to work on was background, which is a mash-up of various pictures of the universe. It symbolizes the perfect universe.
Then I came up with the idea of a pyramid to represent how important I find social structure to be, as well as to depict which of the six main ideas are more important. I cut out black images from a magazine and added it to one side of the pyramid for dimension. With the rest of the pyramid, I cut out white shapes and pasted them on to add texture. The top of my pyramid is where the most important ideas go.
I started with the idea of passion, and how passion moves us forward and encourages us to be educated in deeper detail about our passions. I have a picture of a dolphin jumping through an expressionist painting; this is because those are my main passions.
The next step of the pyramid represents “peace.” I took a picture of the earth tinted green and pasted a peace sign on it. This collaboration has two separate meanings. 1. Peace with the environment. 2. World peace. The second image next to it is a collage of many flags. It represents peace between the nations.
The third row in the pyramid stands for “equality.” Equality, for me, means that everyone should be treated equally in the sense that everyone should treat each other fairly. The images I have in my collage strongly represent that. The image on the far left is a balance with the symbol of the woman on one end and the symbol of the man on the other. This stands for equality between genders. The one next to that is a picture of all different colored hands uniting and also Martin Luther King Jr. in the center of them. This stands for equality between races. The last image is a part of the image I had in “peace.” It’s a collaboration of all the nations that is representing equality between us.
The second to last row in the pyramid is education. Without education there would be no knowledge, and without knowledge there would be no evolution. When we figure out how to be passionate, equal, and peaceful then we can work together to create something infinite. Knowledge is infinite, and in order the gain that you need to be educated. I put pictures down on books and a head with a brain to represent knowledge in its most common form.
The last row includes both evil and hate. I believe that these two ideas are needed in order to balance out the world. Without hate i don't think that life would be as interesting. You’re allowed to hate something. Without evil, life would be kind of bland. That’s why I put the two balances at the bottom and the evil face in the middle; to represent the need of that.
At the top of the pyramid there is an infinite sign, which tends to the quote on the collage, by Chuck Palaphnick that says: “ The goal in life isn’t to live forever, but to create something infinite.” If you follow all the steps to my philosophy you ought to create something infinite, and that is the point of it. With passion, peace, equality, education, evil and hate you’ll find something infinite, which will help evolution, as well as people in the future.
The ultimate goal of my philosophy is to create something infinite, and in order to do that passion is needed. Without it we all might as well all be the same person. WIthout passion, there is no want to be peaceful, or to create education or to care about anything. I believe that education is also a key ingredient in the mix. Without education there would be no knowledge, and without knowledge there would be no evolution. And no evolution means no world, no hate, no love, no kindness, no peace, no equality, just blandness. And all of these concepts are born from the idea of passion. The love of something; if you love it you'll do it, and other people will benefit from that.
