What is Media Studies?

The Integrated Media Studies classes are mandatory, trimester, non-elective courses, grades 9-11 that are integrated into the cultural history curriculum. In all the Media Studies courses, students learn to deconstruct and construct media via collaborative and individual projects and activities, production, discussion, and written reflection. My Philosophical Paragraph

Philosophical Paragraph

Personally, I think it is really hard to think about your own Philosophy although you behave after it every day- you basically just never think about what your believes are and what actually inspires you. In my opinion we all get inspired by our environment or our fellow men who make us think about ourselves. That broaches the question: What would we be if we had to live on our own? Would life still make sense to us? Would we still have our ambitions? Would it still be filled with content? Well, if I think about these questions my answer is no. The human has a social temper, so he cannot live without any of his fellow men. That is why my personal Philosophy is based on the topic “Community”. I really believe that it is one of the most important things in life unless the most important. A “community” comes into being through things like family, sports, clubs, school or Internet. It has become very popular through social Networks like Facebook or Twitter. These social networks prove that people feel like they need to socialize with others. It connects them with other people and friendships can develop. Thereby people feel happy and beloved. I guess that is the main ambition that a human has- to be connected with others and to feel significant.

Artist Statement

The main of my collage as you can see on the top is “Community”. In the middle you can see a tree that is a visual metaphor that stands for the social network that exists between the people all over the world. It represents that we are all connected to each other in some way. The images next to it stand for connections showed in a metaphorical way. Humans are social individuals and they want to socialize and make friends. As I already mentioned in my Philosophical Paragraph through the connection and community that we have we feel happy and beloved. All in all I believe that “Community” is one of the most important things to us. We do not think about it so often because we are used to live in a community. I could not imagine to live without it at all.
