What is Media Studies?

The Integrated Media Studies classes are mandatory, trimester, non-elective courses, grades 9-11 that are integrated into the cultural history curriculum. In all the Media Studies courses, students learn to deconstruct and construct media via collaborative and individual projects and activities, production, discussion, and written reflection. This is a double-period class.

My Philosophy

My ultimate philosophy for living is to be kind to everyone around and respect everyone and not be judgmental to people who are different than me. I believe in learning from elders and some of my favorite stories are those that relate to my family, told by my grandma and aunts and uncles. My grandpa cut class and went to the natural history museum, and he is one of the most knowledgeable people I know. Like him, I believe in experiential education, learning by doing. I try to live with no regrets and enjoy the time I have on this earth because it’s so limited. My passion is learning other languages and Africa. I have always had a strong connection with Africa and I love it because it’s the birth place of humankind. I also believe in reincarnation, and like the rastafari I believe this takes place in Africa. I try to keep journals and often write about whatever I’m thinking and I love finding old pieces of writing by me or anyone else in my family. I like history. I like learning about the past in an attempt to figure out where the future is going.
